Learning Purposes
- Recognize the main problems discussed in control theory, the most important issues to consider in control theory, the main strategies for solving control problems, and other topics to consider in control theory.
- Describe the main structures used for control systems: feedforward control, feedback control, feedforward / feedback control.
- Discuss in a comparative way the advantages and disadvantages of the main structures used for control systems: feedforward control, feedback control, feedforward / feedback control.
- Identify the stages to design a control system.
- Formulate the design specifications of a control system in terms of stability, steady state, and transient performance in the time domain, requirements in the frequency domain, and performance indices.
- Apply the concepts studied to various cases of first and second order systems with classical proportional (P), proportional-derivative (PD), and proportional-integral (PI) controllers.
